Sylvester Stallone has been charged with customs offenses in Australia. 

Stallone, the famous star of Rocky and Rambo fame  was charged Tuesday with one count of importing a banned substance for allegedly bringing 48 vials of human growth hormone into Australia with him on a Qantas flight.   He allegedly passed through Customs with the vials of Jintropin in his personal luggage.

Human growth hormone , commonly referred to as HGH in medical circles is a  favorite of the  bodybuilding set who use it to counteract muscle wastage. 

Stallone was in Sydney to promote Rocky Balboa, was detained on Feb. 16 at Sydney Airport after customs officers allegedly found the injectable substance in his luggage. Stallone is said to have checked off the "no" box on his customs form when asked whether he was bringing restricted or prohibited goods such as medicines, steroids, firearms or any kind of illicit drugs. 

Authorities later searched Stallone's hotel room at Sydney before he and his entourage were cleared to leave Australia.  

Stallone has been heard to say at the time that his run-in with the authorities was a "misunderstanding".

The was not required to appear this week in Downing Center Local Court, but instead was represented by attorney Robert Todd. Stallone has been excused from attending when the case comes up in July.

The court ordered that a plea be entered on Stallone's behalf by Apr. 24. The maximum fine for importing illegal goods into Australia is $110,000 but  the largest financial penalty a local court can hand down is $22,000. 

Court documents reveal Stallone had packed away Jintropin, which is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is not recognized by the medical community as a treatment for any physical condition. 

The substance's main ingredient is the synthetic growth hormone somatropin. A minimum order of five kits from jintropin.net will set you back $2,000.
