Weight Loss: Why Do 98% of People Fail on a Diet
and How to Avoid this Easily

Everybody knows that 98% of dieters fail. But do you know exactly why does this happen?

To understand this, let's probe a little deeper into the working of your own body.

The fact is,Your own body holds the secret key to weight loss.

Human body is a complex, self-sufficient machine capable of managing it's affairs on it's own.

It has an independent defence and immune system ready to attack any desease or external parasite in the fraction of a second.

This clearly indicates that your own body can cure any disease on its own if proper conditions are made available for it’s functioning.

Now, the question is, what are the conditions required for the body to function properly and get rid of the excess fat and lose weight.

To understand this, let us take a small example: If your skin gets burnt accidentally, you apply some ointment containing antibacterial/antiseptic properties.

What you are doing in effect is, you are creating a bacteria free environment on the spot of the burn so that the wound doesn’t get aggravated.

The actual work of healing the wound is done by the skin (read body) and not the ointment. By applying the ointment, you created an ideal bacteria free condition for the body to heal itself. Same holds true in the case of the body fighting obesity.

Your body stores fat as reserve (for times of starvation) and dissolves it on demand by it's metabolic system.

The same way as it can cure any desease, it also has an inborn ability for burning up this excess fat lose weight automatically.

The body has many regulatory (hormone producing) filtering (fat burning) and excretory organs which are capable of keeping the body at an optimum weight level.

But the continuous overload of junk processed food and toxins in your diet and daily living has damaged the functioning of many of these organs, resulting in their malfunction and consequent weight gain.

Faulty diet, polluted environment and stressful living unknowingly introduce a lot of toxins into your system. Definitely, these toxins will create problems in one way or the other in your body, isn't it?

No doubt, a host of diseases like diabetes, cardio vascular diseases, colon cancer, gallbladder disease etc. are associated with obesity.

So, a good weight loss program must begin with detoxification. Because, until and unless these toxins are removed from your body, there won’t be any significant loss of weight which can be sustained over a long period of time.

Many diet programes have advocated different eating methods and combination of foods. Some diets want you to rely on low fat high carbohydrate, some on high protein low carb, whereas some diets have food according to the blood type and still others say different foods have different reaction with enzymes.

"But merely shifting to a different or healthier diet plan without getting rid of the toxins in the body is just like putting a freshly prepared cake in a bin, full of garbage. The cake also becomes garbage in a short while."

This is the reason why 98% diets fail! Got it?

Avoiding Holiday Weight Gain

(NAPSI)-There are ways to keep weight gain from becoming part of your Thanksgiving tradition.

Doctors and dieticians say moderation is the key to getting through special occasions without overindulging or missing out on familiar goodies. That means festivities don't have to be eliminated or avoided. You can have a fabulous time while maintaining your weight and without giving up your favorite things.

Try these tips to help you eat right during those hectic holiday weeks. They come from Weight Watchers:

1. Plan Ahead-Start thinking about how you will manage the holidays before they arrive. Create a storyboard and post it on the refrigerator. Describe a step-by-step plan for how you will make it through the holidays and stay on track with your healthy eating and activity goals.

2. Get Friendly Support-Chances are your friends, family and co-workers have the same fears as you about holiday weight gain. Get a buddy and attend a local support meeting or join a community chat online at Weight Watchers.com. Getting advice from others who have succeeded and who share their techniques may help inspire you to stay on track.

3. Wear Fitted Clothing-Don't give in to baggy sweaters and stretchy fabrics. You might think twice about grazing at the holiday party buffet when you have your "skinny" jeans on. Also, buy a party dress or a fantastic outfit that makes you feel great now and hang it on the bathroom door as a reminder that you want to look and feel your best this season.

4. Stay Flexible And Adapt-Your routine and schedule may be thrown off at this time of year. The days are shorter, the weather is cooler and you might not have the time to make it to the aerobics class after work. It's okay; just try and get in some activity whenever possible, even if it is a walk across the mall parking lot. Don't give up activity completely. Remember that every bit counts at the end of the day.

5. Pick Only Your Favorite Indulgences-Be selective. It's okay to indulge once in a while, but not every day. Keep in mind that 3,500 calories equals one pound of fat. It only takes 500 calories or a few Snickerdoodles (approximately 500 calories) every day for seven days to gain a pound.

Are False Assumptions Keeping You From Your Weight Goals?

If you are not at your goal weight, this is due to one thing only: something is holding you ack. It's not what you are eating; it's how you are thinking. You may not believe that you can easily get and remain thin. This is, however, a false belief.

But if you look around you, you will see that for so many people, the weight has crept on - but it stays on, too! Why does it stay? It's not just because of their eating habits - it's because of false assumptions.

These false assumptions will hold you back in many areas of your life.

A person may believe that he can't get a higher level job. A person may think that he or she can't get the kind of life partner that he or she truly wants. You may believe that you can't attain that dream of yours - that it is too hard, takes too much time, takes more skill or intelligence than you have.

That is pure bunk. These types of beliefs hold you back. Throw them out!

False assumptions about losing weight have benefitted the diet industry for decades, and continue to do so.

What are these false assumptions?

1. Losing weight is torture. It is too hard and I need to take pills, supplements, join a diet group, or get a set of recipes in order to succeed. NOT TRUE

2. It's just too hard to stay on a "diet." I won't be able to do it. NOT TRUE

3. "Diet" is a bad word. NOT TRUE

4. If I find a diet that actually works, I'll have to stay on a miserable eating regimen for life. NOT TRUE

5. Even if I managed to stay on a diet, after all that work and sacrifice, I will gain all the weight back and even more. NOT TRUE

6. Once you get past a certain age, the weight creeps on and it's a lot harder to take it off. NOT TRUE

Don't buy into these beliefs unless you want to help support the billion dollar diet industry. None of these things should ever be assumed.

Don't let false assumptions mess up your body. It's your body, and you can look good if you want to. People lose weight and keep it off all the time! It happens every day for thousands of people and it can happen for you, also.

Of course, you need to know what to cook but there are any number of helpful low-calorie and low-fat cookery books out there as well as specialist magazines and websites. You can plan a whole raft of delicious meals each week for you and your family and they won't even know they are eating healthily to keep you company!

If you really don't have a clue where to start it's worth joining a beginners class or buying a basic "Learn to cook" book to get the fundamental skills. After that the whole world of delicious cuisine is your oyster.

You may even find that your attempts to lose weight may result in you gaining a whole new exciting relationship with food rather than fearing it as the enemy.

Keep Fit For Life at Any Age

Experts now know that it’s usually more dangerous to not stay active, no matter how old you are. And you don’t need to buy special clothes or belong to a gym to become more physical.

Most people don’t get enough physical activity. Here are some reasons why they should:

* Lack of physical activity and not eating the right foods, taken together, are the second greatest inherent cause of death in the United States. (Smoking is the number one cause.)

* Physical exercise can help people feel right and enjoy life more.

* Regular exercise can halt or put off some diseases like cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. It can also perk up your mood can be a direct result along with helping depression.

* Being active can help people stay independent and able to keep doing things like getting around or dressing themselves as they get older.

There are four types of physical activies you need to do to have the right assortment of physical activities.

1. Get at least 30 minutes of activity that makes you breathe harder on most or all days of the week. That’s called “endurance activity,” because it builds your energy or “staying power.” You don’t have to be active for 30 minutes all at once. Ten minutes of endurance activity at a time is fine. Just make sure those 10-minute sessions add up to a total of 30 minutes most days.

How hard do you need to exercise? The right level of effort is described this way: If you can talk while exercising without any trouble at all, you’re not working hard enough. If you can’t talk at all, it’s way too hard.

2. Keep using your muscles. When muscles aren’t used, they waste away at any age. How important is it to have “enough” muscle? Very! Muscles step-up your metabolism, allowing you to burn off more calories during the day when your body is at rest. Using your muscles may also make your bones stronger, too.

3. Do things to help your balance. Every now and then walk heel-to-toe. When you walk this way, the toes of the foot in back should almost touch the heel of the foot in front.

4. Stretch. Stretching can help keep you flexible and will be able to move more freely. Stretch when your muscles have warmed up. Never stretch so far that it hurts.

So, make physical activity a part of your everyday life. Find things you enjoy. Go for brisk walks. Ride a bike. Dance. Work around the house and in the yard, take care of your garden, climb the stairs, or rake your leaves. Regular day to day chores around the hous can keep you moving and active.
